Women in Construction Week

AGC New Mexico will celebrate Women in Construction Week March 7-13. Women ARE a visible component of the construction industry. Creating a support network and raising the awareness of the opportunities available for women in the industry is vital to the growing role women play. We encourage all of our members to share their own posts on social media using #agcNM, #WomenInConstruction and/or #WICWeek2021 so that we can easily find and re-share!

Thank you Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham for the State of New Mexico Proclamation for Women in Construction Week, Mar. 7th-13th.

Message from the Women in the Construction Industry Committee

“It is that amazing time of year again, when we celebrate Women in Construction!  We would usually be getting together in a beautiful setting with great people, good food and drink to share our experiences as women in construction in New Mexico.  Unfortunately, due to current COVID restrictions we are unable to gather for this great event, but we are hopeful that we will be able to get together later this year.  In the mean time, we thought this would be a perfect opportunity to catch up on what our past speakers are doing now. Please read and enjoy the updates on each of these incredible women.  Thank you for continuing to support Women in Construction and we are really looking forward to when we can all get together again!”

Felicia Candelaria, Sandia National Labratories
Dena Crain, Menicucci Insurance Agency
Julie Gibson, Corbin's Electric
Marni Goodrich, Yearout Mechanical, LLC
Janet Jordan, Richardson & Richardson
Margaret Karler, Miller Bonded

In conjunction with Women in Construction Week, we are releasing the new AGC of America Culture of CARE toolkit on Sexism in the Workplace. This toolkit consists of three toolbox talks:
  1. Understanding Sexism;
  2. Risk of Sexism in Construction; and
  3. Interrupting Sexism in the Construction Workplace.
The toolkit also includes a discussion guide to help pledged companies prepare for and successfully hold discussions with their employees about sexism in the workplace, and create actionable next steps following those conversations. You can find the Sexism in the Workplace Toolkit on the Culture of CARE website here or a link to the direct download can be found here.
