Welcome to the New Mexico Building Education Foundation (NMBEF) Undergraduate Scholarship Program! Our mission is to support and empower the next generation of construction industry leaders by providing financial assistance to students pursuing degrees in construction or construction-related engineering. This scholarship is designed to help students achieve their educational and career goals while promoting excellence and innovation within the construction community.
Scholarship Overview
The NMBEF Undergraduate Scholarship is aimed at students committed to pursuing a career in the construction industry. We are dedicated to fostering talent and encouraging academic achievement by offering financial support to deserving students who demonstrate a passion for construction and a drive for success.
- Number of Scholarships: Multiple awards available
- Scholarship Amount: Up to $2,500 per student
- Eligibility: Open to rising college sophomores, juniors, or seniors in five-year programs enrolled in construction or construction-related engineering degrees at New Mexico colleges or universities.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the NMBEF Undergraduate Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Student Status:
- Must be a rising college sophomore or junior in a four-year program or a rising senior in a five-year program as of Fall 2025.
- Junior and senior applicants must have one full academic year of coursework remaining at the time of the application deadline (Summer 2025 term).
- Second-year students at a two-year school who are transferring to a four-year program for Fall 2025 are also eligible.
Career Aspiration:
- Applicant must have a genuine interest in pursuing a career in the construction industry.
Enrollment Requirements:
- Must be a full-time student (minimum of 12 credit hours).
- Must be enrolled in a New Mexico college or university.
- Must pursue a B.S. degree in construction or construction-related engineering. A dual degree with construction or construction-related engineering as one component is acceptable.
Application Requirements
To be considered for this scholarship, applicants must submit the following by 5:00 PM MDT on June 1, 2025:
- Completed Application: Fully completed application form.
- Transcripts: Official or unofficial college transcripts clearly showing the academic institution and student’s name. (Text versions from the school's website are not accepted.)
- Verification of Enrollment: Proof of full-time enrollment for the Fall 2025 term.
- Letter of Recommendation: One (1) personal recommendation from a faculty member, advisor, or employer.
- Essays: Two (2) essays addressing the prompts provided in the application, submitted as separate documents.
- Spelling and Grammar: Proper spelling and grammar are essential and will be considered in the review process.
- Submission: Submit all application materials to adminassist@agc-nm.org.
Scholarship Awards
- Scholarships are awarded for a maximum of $2,500 per student.
- Applications will be reviewed, and winners will be selected by the AGC NMBEF Board of Directors.
- Notification of Winners: Scholarship winners will be notified by August 1, 2025.
- Disbursement of Funds: Checks will be sent directly to recipients, not to the educational institutions.
Important Dates
- Application Deadline: June 1, 2025, by 5:00 PM MDT
- Winners Announced: August 1, 2025
- Scholarship Disbursement: Before the start of the Fall 2025 academic year
