AGC NM Meets with New Mexico Congressional Delegation in Washington, D.C. to Discuss Construction Industry Priorities
AGC New Mexico’s 2024 President David Langley (LLR Construction), Immediate Past President John Stroud (JB Henderson Construction), Secretary/Treasurer Patrick Thomas (Summit Construction), and AGC NM CEO Kelly Roepke-Orth attended the AGC America National Chapter Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C. During the visit, the team took the opportunity to meet with members of New Mexico’s Congressional delegation to highlight the chapter's critical work, particularly in workforce development and safety.
We proudly shared the accomplishments of our member companies, emphasizing the number of people they employ and our significant youth outreach efforts. Additionally, we discussed key issues affecting the construction industry in New Mexico and how federal policies impact our state.
Among the federal issues our team raised were:
- Undertake immigration reform that addresses workforce needs
- Prevent a massive tax increase on construction by extending the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act
- Ensure that OSHA does not establish a one-size fits all national heat standard
