Please tell Bernalillo County Commissioners to vote NO on PAID LEAVE MANDATES!

Please vote NO on the Paid Leave Mandate and support a stronger local economy with more job opportunities.  One-size-fits-all mandates damage small businesses.  Please do not add another barrier to economic growth in our community.

Less than two years ago, Albuquerque voters voted against the proposed Paid Sick Leave Mandate that is almost identical to this one. After losing on the ballot, the Bernalillo County Commission is preparing to ignore voters on yet another Paid Leave Mandate.

This proposed MANDATE ON YOUR BUSINESS will force you to provide 56 hours of paid sick leave per year to every employee including full-time, part-time, temporary, and seasonal employees. The 56 hours can also be carried over to the next year!

The employee may retain a lawyer and sue your company without seeking resolution, and your business will PAY THE LEGAL BILL!

The employee may use paid leave for themselves or other family members and the definition in this proposal is extremely broad, including “any other individual or relative whose close association with the employee or employee’s spouse or domestic partner is the equivalent of a family member.”

Please send an e-mail to the commissioners and tell them to vote NO.

Just fill in your name, zip code, phone number, and e-mail address, and then press “SEND E-MAIL”;  please consider personalizing the letter with a few words of your own.
